Let me walk you through spring blossoms, summer beaches, autumn colours and cozy winter sessions with a sprinkle of storytelling, a dash of humour, and a whole lot of island love.

Spring — the soft, fresh beginning (April / early May)

Spring is when PEI starts to wake up. Think: apple blossoms, softer light, beaches that aren’t yet buzzing with tourists, and that fresh-green feeling everywhere. For engagement photos, it’s something magical.

In April the apple orchards begin to bloom, painting the island with tiny white and pink flowers — hello dreamy backdrop for your "we just got engaged" portraits.
Beaches like Tracadie Cross Beach or the river-beach at Brudenell River Provincial Park are especially nice in spring because they’re sheltered and less wind-whipped, making it easier to walk in dress or fine shoes and still feel comfortable.
Early in the season the crowds haven’t yet arrived, so your session can feel intimate, peaceful and full of soft island light.

Kass tip: Let’s aim for the hour just before sunset, when the light is gentle and the blossoms or grasses are glowing. Pack a light jacket (spring days can still surprise you) and maybe sandals for the beach part — bare feet optional, but highly encouraged.

Summer — lush, vibrant and full of energy

Summer on PEI comes in fast and brings bold colours, green fields, wildflowers, and beaches that are alive. If you love bright, warm days and want your engagement photos to feel fun-filled and full of life, summer is a fantastic choice.

June is especially great: not too hot yet, greenery everywhere, wildflowers popping, beaches ready for play.
If you pick a time outside the peak of July/August, you get that summer vibe without the full blast of crowds.
The island light in summer? Long days, soft evenings, perfect for golden hour along the shoreline.

Kass tip: Let’s schedule toward early evening (just before sunset) so the light is warm and we catch the magic. Bring props like a picnic blanket, maybe your favourite drink, and let’s include a fun-in-the-sand moment (yes, sand in your hair is allowed).

Autumn (fall) — golden, romantic and rich with colour

Autumn truly showcases PEI’s colour palette. The leaves shift, the air cools a bit, and the island dresses itself in reds, oranges and golds. As the tourism buzz calms down, it’s a dreamy time for engagement photos.

According to tourism sources, fall on PEI is “a feast for the senses” as the landscape transforms.
September gives you still-warm beaches and colourful trails. By October the beaches cool off but the texture of the foliage is rich.
Trails, dirt roads, parks like Mooney’s Pond or historic sites like Ardgowan National Historic Site become golden wonderlands for portraits.

Kass tip: This one is for the couples who love cozy sweaters, crisp air and the “fall in love” visual. Bring layers, colours that complement the leaves (deep greens, rusts, creams) and let’s pick a location with a mix of beach + woods/trail or open field for variety.

Winter — quiet, intimate and full of charm

Yes, we can absolutely do engagement photos in winter on PEI — and they’re different in the best possible way. Think: snow-blanketed landscapes, cozy little moments, urban vibes in Charlottetown or a cottage-style session.

Mid to late January is when snow is likely here to stay, and by Valentine’s Day you’ve got the full “winter in love” aesthetic.
Maybe skipping the beach for this one? Instead imagine in-home sessions, historic downtown cobblestones, warm fireplaces, gloved hand-holding.
Winter might be colder, but that also means fewer distractions, less foot traffic, and a focus on you two.

Kass tip: Layer up. Bring boots, an extra warm coat, a scarf (maybe matching!). If there’s snow — let’s use it creatively: footprints in snow, a warm embrace, visible breath in the air. Turn the chill into charm.
